Coal-to-liquid-to-clean

I'm with Matt in not necessarily feeling the need to bash a candidate for not yet having a well defined platform. But Obama's new greenhouse emissions plan--a cap on carbon from auto exhaust--seems not just small bore, but also entirely at odds with the coal-to-liquid proposal he supported earlier this year.

Obama has coal in his state. So on the one hand, the fact that he's wavering between a bad policy like coal-to-liquid and a tiny one like the car-exhaust cap isn't surprising. But he's also latched himself on to the McCain-Lieberman bill which is pretty significant stuff. This is all to say that, at the very best, Obama ought to clarify for the record his position on carbon emissions.
