Progressives and the military

Here and here Ezra wonders why the panel he's attending called "The Military and Progressives: Are They Really that Different?" is so abandoned. My two cents: It's abandoned because-organizers excepted--most people here probably understand that, yes, by and large, members of the military have political ideas that are deeply at odds with progressivism. When big groups of like-minded people come together--like, say, at a YearlyKos convention--they often have a tendency to assume that their perspectives happen the best-fit for all other groups, lifestyles, situations, etc. It's an understandable delusion, but a delusion nonetheless.
