Allow me to defend President Bush (yes, you read that correctly) against the criticism from Kate O'Beirne that he has his priorities backward:
Too bad Scooter Libby can't prove that he was in the country illegally before January of this year so he could be pardoned for past offenses. Apparently, President Bush's compassion extends to 12 million illegal aliens but not to someone who loyally and tirelessly served him.
I think Bush has this one right! Sort of, anyhow. Notice, though that "loyal and tireless service" to Bush himself is the grounds upon which she believes the president should pardon Scooter Libby. Not, you know, his supposed innocence. But I guess this isn't surprising, coming as it is from a woman whose husband is that DoD guy who staffed crucial CPA positions with inept, Bush-adoring cronies.
