Haven't said much about it, probably because I have no interest in getting any more worked up about presidential politics than I already (unhealthily) am. But I guess the latest news--on the heels of his announcement that he doesn't intend to seek the presidency--is either that Bloomberg might actually want to run after that, or that Adam Nagourney and Jim Rutenberg would like us to think that he might actually want to run. Getting exercised yet?
Even though some of his positions seem reasonable, I doubt that he can assemble the machinery to get on the ballots in more than 30 states. Moreover, I think he is responsible enough to avoid doing anything to hurt the democratic candidate's chances, which he would, in spite of his very modest appeal. Might make an interesting VP candidate - don't know the campaign finance laws well enough to know if he could fund his own ticket - but I doubt that any of the contenders would want him on their ticket.

Maybe (if the early polls are correct that Bloomberg hurts the GOP more than the Dems) the threat of Bloomberg taking away Repub. votes will scare the GOP into facing how stupidly out of touch their party's candidates are with the feelings of the US voters. The GOP needs a wakeup.
That said, I will pray to the gods that he doesn't run as I can barely face the thought of waking up on the night after the election and finding that by surprise, Mike has diverted Dem. votes as Nader did in 2000 and we face 4 or 8 years more of GOP totalitarian tendencies.
