I was going to attend this, but then... I didn't. My excuse: I would have eaten too many complimentary donuts.
Now that the minimum wage is in effect, though, it seems to me that the Democratic leadership has a freer hand to bring one of a handful of its Constitutional crises with the president to a head. My suggestion is that they cite for inherent contempt---and then arrest--any or all of the members of the administration that have dodged their subpoenas. This should be done in conjunction with specific defunding of various, non-essential executive-branch offices. My reasoning is that this is the best way to get the administration to do something, anything, in its attempts to thwart Congress, that makes the impeachment of at least somebody significant a real political possibility.
But it's open for discussion. Contempt? War? Straight to impeachment? What's the best way forward now?
I'll take a half-dozen contempts to go, three of the strategically selected funds-offs (with prohibition of funds transfer and loan of personnel from other agencies), and two juicy impeachments, please. Maybe three impeachments (one for practice on the Attorney General).
For the funds cut-off, The Office of VP (except for the VP and one secretary) and Office of White House Counsel (including prohibition of outside contractors, but excluding one (1) lawyer of choice for the President. We have to be reasonable, right?
But wait, there's more! There's a brand new 'policy' office in the EOP that is to oversee and coordinate policy and implementation across all the departments (and to make sure that science is fully surpressed or rearranged when inconvenient to political goals). They qualify for the 2 for 1 sale on exclusion from appropriated funds. (sorry the name is sufficiently bureaucratic that google fails to deliver). But it is those guys!)
