In the course of his 800 word paean to Jeri Thompson--Fred Thompson's younger, prettier wife--Robert Novak lets something slip:
Speaking at his $1,000-a-ticket fundraiser at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in downtown Washington on Monday night, Fred Thompson began by introducing "my campaign manager -- oh, I mean my wife." That little joke about Jeri Thompson reveals how the prospective Republican presidential candidate regards the attack on his intelligent, beautiful wife.
See, the joke isn't about how he's raising all this money even though he's still pretending to be "testing the waters". The joke is about how his wife isn't in fact (but could be) the manager of the campaign he already sees himself running. Are these laws really that easy to break? When do the penalties start kicking in?
She has a pretty expensive cosmetic surgery habit. He has one foot in the grave. So its logical (to them) that he would want to raise money under the guise of candidacy before the second foot enters, so he can form a PAC, that will of course ultimately end up back in his relatives pockets, like he has done in the past, once he inevitably loses his bid for the nomination.
Its all so obvious. I dont know anyone can support such a crook. Must be them Karl Rove fans.
